Definition
On-premise
A deployment model where software and data run on the company's own servers, in its offices or datacenter, rather than in a vendor's cloud.
An on-premise deployment installs the AI platform directly on the company's infrastructure: its physical servers, datacenter or private cloud. Prompts, documents and search indexes never transit through a third party — the strongest confidentiality guarantee there is.
Long reserved for large corporations due to complexity, on-premise has become accessible: a platform like Eridia installs in one day on standard hardware, with open-source models running locally and, if desired, controlled access to cloud models for non-sensitive tasks.
